DEAD WATER (2023)

Dead Water is a concept from Eastern Slavic culture.

Dead water is the name for the water you use to wash a corpse. However, in Slavic culture it is imbued with superstitious meaning: It can be used by witches to curse people and cause all kind of harm, which means, that you can’t ever trust the women who would wash the body of your relatives after their death.

The video was created in collaboration with AI tools and features elements of phygital performance by using an AI-trained model of the artist to create avatars and letting them lip-sync to an AI-created voice-over.

DEAD WATER ist ein Poesiefilm, der auf die im russischen, ukrainischen und belarusischen Aberglauben verwurzelte magische Praxis des “toten Wassers” rekurriert: Totenwaschwasser kann dazu benutzt werden, um jemanden zu verfluchen. Wie so oft ist es ein Aberglaube, der auf eine Angst vor dem magischen Potenzial von Frauen verweist: Man kann niemals den Frauen vertrauen, die sich um die Toten kümmern.

DEAD WATER verbindet (das sowohl als immersives 360º- als auch als zweidimensionales 16:9-Video existiert) Realfilmelemente mit KI-generierten Videosequenzen welche in eine 3D-animierte Umgebung eingefügt wurden. Das Gedicht selbst wurde von Ki-generierten Stimmen rezitiert, die Gesichter sind KI-optimierte Porträts der Künstlerin, die animiert wurden. Die Soundscape ist hingegen von der Künstlerin selbst komponiert.

WAS DU GESEHEN HABEN WIRST (2022)

Stopmotion-Animation. Ein performativer Poetryfilm darüber, was niemand gesehen haben wollen will. Kindliche Papierpuppen und Tableaus in Collagenästhetik zusammengeworfen mit Symbolik von Krieg, Politik und Religion. Ein Gedicht, das auf die Belagerung von Leningrad verweist. Suffragettenfarben, Aileen Wuornos-Glorifizierung, und wunderbare Landschaften kombiniert mit Naziuniformen. Nichts ist unschuldig.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE SEEN (2022)

Stop motion animation. A performative poetry film about what nobody will want to have seen. Childish paper dolls and tableaus, collage aesthetics juxtaposed with symbols of war, politics, and religion. Ideologies and opinions tried on as one would try on clothes.A poem hinting at the Leningrad siege. The colors of the suffragettes, Aileen Wuornos glorification, and glorious landscapes combined with Nazi uniforms. Nothing is innocent.

Geldscheinorigami, Geld verbrennen und waschen, Geld in Museen. Psychedelische Pflanzenornamente gefunden im verwilderten Garten eines verlassenen ukrainischen Schloss der Belle Époque. Panzer, Geld, das gegessen wird, fetischisierte Pässe, die fast objektophil vorm Brandenburger Tor geküsst werden. Eine Hommage an die Migration und an die Geister sowohl der Vergangenheit, als auch der Zukunft.

Money origami, burning and laundering money, money in museums. Psychedelic plant ornaments found in the overgrown garden of an abandoned Ukrainian Belle Époque castle. Tanks that are shooting, money that is eaten, fetishized passports that are kissed in an objectophiliac manner in front of the Brandenburg Gate. A tribute to migration and the ghosts of both past and future.
